- Dermcidin-1L is an antimicrobial peptide found in human sweat. It was reported that in studies usind DCD-1L, Dermcidin-1L was active against Gram-positive and negative bacteria and fungus. Dermcidin-1L activates human keratinocytes. DCD-1L does not show membrane permeability. It is an anti-microbial peptide secreted by human eccrine sweat glands onto the skin as a part of the innate host defense of the immune system. It is also involved in proteolysis.
