Endogenous Rescue Factor Abolishing Neuronal Cell Death
Description
Peptide to Humanin, Human. Humanin (HN) is a polypeptide suppressing neuronal cell death induced by several familial Alzheimer's disease genes and by amyloid beta-protein (1-43) (human). It has been shown that amyloid beta-protein (1-40) and amyloid beta-protein (1-42) secretion is not affe. Is a micropeptide encoded in the mitochondrial genome by the 16S ribosomal RNA gene, MT-RNR2. Its structure contains a three-turn α-helix, and no symmetry. In in vitro and animal models, it appears to have cytoprotective effects.
