Description
Obestatin is a 23-amino acid peptide. It is encoded by the ghrelin gene. Obestatin, an obesity peptide, along with Ghrelin peptides are derived from the same prepropeptide, Ghrelin. In contrast to Ghrelin, Obestatin suppresses food intake, body weight gain, and gastrointestinal motility in rodents.
